Superbowl XLVI: What Makes Indianapolis Great
If you follow us on twitter, chances are you've seen all the Superbowl XLVI articles and info we've been sharing this week. Similarly, I have decided to take a break from business blogging today to take a minute to talk about everything going on in Indianapolis while we are just days away from the biggest game in professional football.
In the beginning, the amount of skepticism concerning whether Indianapolis was going to be able to pull off something this big was abundant. Our city is small and goes relatively unnoticed when it comes to places to visit on a map. Until now. Indianapolis has put that Midwestern charm to good use and shown the world that we are a genuinely special place to visit. Judging from what the international media outlets have to say, Indianapolis has done nothing short of blowing expectations out of the water.

One of my favorite reviews so far is from the skysports.com blog post: "City Of Dreams." Not only does author Simon Veness actually admit that he "couldn't believe his own eyes," but he goes on to explain just what it is about Indianapolis that makes this host city so refreshing. "The city hasn't just embraced the event, the city IS the event. Everything is so compactly set out that the whole landscape of XLVI is walkable - nothing is more than five or six blocks away, and the stadium itself sits at the head of it all like a temple of sporting nirvana."
Aside from the allure of the Super Bowl Village, free concerts every single night, the NFL Experience at the Convention Center, great restaurants and celebrity sightings left and right, the economic impact of hosting this game is predicted to break records. I think people are beginning to realize that Indianapolis is full of genuinely good people and great businesses... "Hoosier Hospitality" at it's finest.
The cherry on top of this really fantastic metaphorical cake would be if our Colts were making an appearance. But hey, at least there's one Manning in the Superbowl, right?!
As a business, and for me personally, Indianapolis has always been home. But with all the recent media coverage surrounding the Superbowl, I have to say it feels pretty darn great to be a Hoosier right about now.
Who are you rooting for this Sunday? Have you had the chance to experience downtown Indianapolis this week?
