Eric McDonald

According to their website, www.kcsmartport.com, KC SmartPort is a non-profit economic development organization that "promotes and enhances the Kansas City region's status as a leading North American logistics hub."

In a KC SmartPort press release last week, they note that in his first year as Chairman, Eric will work closely with Chris Gutierrez, president of KC SmartPort, and the rest of KC SmartPort board to continue the mission to grow the transportation and logistics industry in the Kansas City region.

“As chairman, I plan to support KC SmartPort’s outreach efforts by expanding the contact base that SmartPort currently reaches.” Eric said in a statement. “It is important to convey the message of Kansas City to key decision makers for the market.”

"It's great to have employees like Eric out there getting involved in critical aspects of our industry," Kevin Rowles, president of Storage Solutions, said.  "It's important to strive for positive change in logistics and material handling as a whole, and we're fortunate to have someone like Eric leading the way in Kansas City."

KC SmartPort has two main focuses in its mission: 1. To grow the Kansas City area’s transportation industry by attracting businesses with significant transportation and logistics elements; 2. To make the industry and the region more competitive in the movement of goods into, out of and through the Kansas City area.

Congratulations, Eric!
